BABESIOSIS (PYROPLASMOSIS)

Babesiosis is a serious disease, for dogs is unfortunately often fatal. Ticks named Dermacentor reticulatus which carry gems of this disease are present in Poland. Some of the symptoms of acute illness include: general deterioration of health, fever, loss of appetite. Early diagnosis is very important and gives you the opportunity to use various treatments. Discontinuation of treatment always ends with the death of the animal.

LYME DISEASE

Lyme disease is a bacterial disease which attacks both humans and animals. The main culprit of infection is the tick named Ixodes ricinus. Symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, lameness, and severe lymphadenopathy. Patients with renal dysfunction, heart function, and neurological disorders can often be observed. One of the first symptoms of a disease in human is the so-called Erythema wandering. For the treatment of lyme disease antibiotics are necessary.

HEPATOZOONOZA

This disease is spreads by all tick species occurring in Poland. Hepatozoonosis affects both dogs and cats and is caused by eating the infected tick by a dog or cat. This disease causes deterioration of kidney function and recurrent fever.

EHRLICHIOSIS

The pathogen of this disease is the tick called Rhipicephalus sanguineus. Ehrlichiosis is an infectious blood disease that attacks white blood cells and consequently impairs the immune system. Depression, fever, weight loss and appetite and spotting on the mucous membranes of the lips are the most common symptoms of this disease. The disease is treated with antibiotics.

RUBELLA SKIN INFECTIONS

At the site of the tick’s bite, and in the case of all species occurring in Poland, a bacterial outbreak may occur, which may spread to other parts of the skin.

KITTEN'S DISEASE

This disease usually occurs in cats asymptomatically, but it becomes dangerous when it is transmitted to humans as a result of cat scratching. If the scratching area is not disinfected, inflammation occurs, often accompanied by fever. Lack of treatment leads to further symptoms in the form of enlarged axillary lymph nodes, which later become absent. Kitten’s disease lasts about 1-2 weeks, and antibiotics are used in the treatment.
